THE MISIONERA JUNGLE
It is one of the regions with the greatest biological diversity in Argentina. Some of its main features are the low mountain ranges and red soils. Lined by a network of streams and rivers, this is another ideal ecosystem for bird watching.
Although one of the smallest provinces in Argentina, Misiones is home to more than half of Argentina's birds (some 550 species).
THE IBERÁ ESTUARIES
Iberá is a region dotted by lagoons, estuaries and marshlands. A common plant species in this area is a sedge-like plant, pajonales de piri, a relative of the papyrus plant; aquatic plants are also common, such as the camalote that come to form actual islands, on which trees can grow and a person can walk with no trouble at all. The fauna is also abundant and in the natural reserves, it is common to see capybaras, alligators and a remarkable variety of water birds.
