
This reserve, is a 1.3 million hectares basin accumulating and draining water through the Corrientes river towards the Paraná river.
Old river beds from Paraná river are currently the base of this independent and complex system of swamps consisting of several marshes, lagoons and different water courses.
Insect repellent is advisable.
This valuable system lodges important biodiversity including several and rare species, vulnerable or in danger of extinction such as: swamp deer, muscovy ducks, cariyú, several kinds of lizards and alligators, among others.
Birds are far too numerous to mention, but the signature species include the chajá (horned screamer, Chauna torquata), biguá común (olive cormorant, Phalacrocorax olivaceus), several species of storks, herons, and egrets, and many waterfowl, including the endangered pato crestudo (comb duck, Sarkidiornis melanotos).
