
Location, extension and bordering countries: Situated in South America, Argentina takes up an area of almost 3,8 million km², out of which, almost 2,8 belong to the continent and the rest to the Antarctic region. The country borders on Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile.
Weather: The continental region is well known for its varied climate, which goes from tropical to cold in the south, with diverse temperate climates between one extreme and the other. The average temperature is 23º C from November to March and 12 º C from June to September. Remember that the southern hemisphere has opposite seasons from those of the northern hemisphere.
Entering the Country: A valid passport, with or without a visa depending on the country of issue, is requested. Passengers coming from bordering countries are exempt from taxes on personal effects and new items of a value not exceeding USD 300, plus USD 300 additional, if they were bought in an authorized national duty free shop. No vaccination certificates are required when entering the country, except against cholera and yellow fever for those that come from countries where these diseases are endemic.
Airports: All international airlines that fly to Argentina arrive to Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza), situated about 35 km. from the city of Buenos Aires. Domestic flights are covered by Aerolíneas Argentina and Austral. Domestic flights to the Republic of Uruguay leave Jorge Newbery Airport (Aeroparque).

Money Exchange - Credit Cards: Currency exchange can be done at banks or authorized exchange offices. Banks operate Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 03:00 pm and exchange offices from Monday to Friday until 06:00 pm, and Saturdays from 09:00 am to 12:00 am. The most widely accepted credit cards are AX, VI, DC y MC. You may have difficulties exchanging traveler checks in some cities in the inner country.
Taxes: Value Added Tax - "IVA" - of 21% is included in prices shown to public. In the airport this value added tax can be refunded, providing the purchases are national products and priced higher than $70 (as per receipt) (forms issued by shops in the "Global Refund" system will be required).
Telephones - Communications: To call from abroad dial the international prefix for Argentina (54) plus the area code and telephone number. When in Argentina dial 0 before the area code. To call abroad from Argentina, dial 00 before entering the country code and phone number. Reduced rates apply during night hours. Many telephone stations also offer Internet services. In large cities, 4 and 5 star hotels offer WiFi service.
