The Evita Museum houses an interesting collection which includes personal items of the most emblematic woman of Argentine history.
Visiting the museum that pays homage to one of the most representative figures of Argentine´s history is a must in the Palermo neighborhood.
Opened in 2002, the Evita museum is located on Lafinur street 2988, in an old mansion with breathtaking beauty. It belonged to an aristocratic family and in 1948 passed into the hands of the Eva Peron Social Assistance Foundation.
Today, it exhibits the most valuable objects and documents of the woman originary from Los Toldos, Buenos Aires province. It offers a unique opportunity to get to know the life of Eva, a woman as loved as she was controversial and who became a national legend.
The permanent exhibition offers a retrospect of the most significant moments in the life of Maria Eva Duarte de Peron, recreated through modern museographic techniques.
Upon entering, a glimpse is caught of a representation of her funeral, which gathered more than 2 million people.
In addition, there are hitherto unpublished photographs and items from her childhood, like portraits of her parents, Juan Duarte and Juana Ibarguren, and of her brother and sisters, as one moves with her picture on the cover and inside. The only film she was in is also projected: La Pródiga.
Almost at the end of the tour, one can find oneself face to face with those remains Evita left behind in her stint through Argentine politics: original newspapers commemorating 17 October 1945, photos of her wedding to Juan Domingo Perón, images of her last public appearances and a few of items from her outfits, like shoes, hats and dresses.
