Description
This is a region with greatly contrasting landscapes: the high peaks of the Andes, the Puna altiplano, the salt flats and subtropical rainforests, with a great diversity of flora and fauna typical of the different environments.
This region is home to the multicolored valley known as Quebrada de Humahuaca, listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
Rich in pre-Columbian history, this is where the roots of Latin American culture lie. Its colonial settlements, filled with traditions and archaeological treasures, are inhabited by the so-called Kollas, true representatives of the founding peoples of South America.
