Buenos Aires y Pampa

Buenos Aires and Pampa

Izquierda 1 2 Derecha

Description

This is one of the most fertile regions in the world, with vast plains of varied natural ecosystems, such as prairies, low mountain ranges, rivers, lagoons, marshlands, ponds and broad seaside beaches.
Since the late Spanish colonial period, the gaucho culture thrived in this area, with its traditions remaining alive in countless historical settlements and large ranches which have opened their doors to tourism.
On the banks of the Río de la Plata lies the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina's capital city and most important cosmopolitan centre, and second-most important city in South America. Popularly known as the "Queen of the River Plate" or the "city that never sleeps", Buenos Aires is the birthplace of Tango, and has been appointed "City of Design" by UNESCO.
